10 years ago, I made the original Jog-On layout for Traktor and TouchOSC (which is still one of the default provided layouts in the TouchOSC app). Recently, I’d been invited to test out the beta version of the brand new version of TouchOSC, so I thought I’d use this opportunity to try out the new features by making an updated version of the original Jog-On layout.
The all-new Jog-On 2 (working title!) is now complete and the layout and accompanying mapping for Traktor will be made available here as soon as the new TouchOSC is released.
Differences:
The original Jog-On layout, especially with regard to how the effects are handled, was only suited to a particular style of DJing. It was fine for styles that relied on the beat masher and beat slicer effects but didn’t give you much option to configure the FX units exactly how you wanted them.
I’ve tried to make things a little different in this version and have now included almost every feature that Traktor has to offer. Thanks to the new ‘Pagers’ feature in TouchOSC (allowing you to create tabbed pages anywhere on the screen – and even placing Pagers within Pagers), Ive been able to add more buttons and features than the screen space would normally allow. So you now have much more control over the ’standard’ decks, including full control of the Freeze Mode and Stem tracks, as well as the Remix Decks which now let you control pretty much every feature, including the Step Sequencer. You can customise the look and features of the layout by just ‘mixing and matching’ the areas of Traktor you want to control.
